Report

Finally the day had come. After a sleepless night I hit the road to Leipzig. Having just arrived, after a little lunch we rushed to our hotels.

There we spent a few minutes with dressing and styling up for the eve and hurried back to the inner city, near the venue. We met for a little fan meeting in a hotel bar and spent at least a few quiet minutes together. Then it was time to go, the suspense was rising, the hearts began to beat faster and faster with every step closer to the “Gewandhaus”. As we arrived we were very surprised by the ambience, very elegant and genteelly. Usually we have to go to meadows, sport arenas or marketplaces, but this was something totally different.

The show was starting at 8 o'clock, with the opening ceremony but not the usual one. A bit strange, but nice alternation.

Like some of us had expected, Chris started with “Hello Baby” which was perfectly fitting the situation.

The atmosphere was breathtaking. From time to time you could have heard needles falling to the floor and sometimes the audience was going wild. As the obligative “Alice” started some people couldn't held themselves on the seats and they stood up cheering. The whole program was full of surprises. Of course, there was something old and something new in the perfect mix again, but in a totally new combination of songs.

Chris played songs like:

  • Hello Baby
  • Love Not War
  • I'll Meet You At Midnight
  • If You Think You Know How To Love Me
  • Baby It's You
  • Mexican Girl
  • Lay Back In The Arms Of Someone
  • Some Hearts Are Diamonds
  • No Arms Can Ever Hold You
  • Stranger
  • Goodbye Lady Blue
  • Sleep Alone Tonight
  • Catch Your Dream
  • Lay Me Down
  • Baby I Call Your Name
  • Trying To Find My Home
  • The Boxer
  • Things We Said Today
  • Don't Play Your Rock'n'Roll To Me
  • Midnight Lady
  • The First Cut Is The Deepest
  • When The Night Has Turned Cold
  • Dangerous Heart
  • Lost In Flight
  • Living Next Door to Alice
  • Turn Right Turn Wrong
  • All Day All Night
  • Million Miles To Nowhere
  • All Shook Up

and probably some more which I only can't remember anymore because I was too excited.

At times I was shaking due to this emotionality which was in the air and at the end I also couldn't stay on my seat anymore and made some steps to the stage like many others because Chris had invited us with his gesture.

The show ended with a very long version of “All Shook Up” and the whole audience was going crazy.

What an exalted tour start, this can hardly be topped!

Later at the backstage entrance Chris wrote some autographs and made pictures with fans. But because of the concert next day in Stuttgart he was in a hurry and George was urging like every time.

And so they rushed away, but there's no need to be sad! The tour has just begun and we'll see him again soon.

I wish everybody who can go to one of these concerts a lot of fun which they surely will have. I am very sad for all the poor people who can't see any of the shows, this is just overwhelming and outstanding, one of the best concerts I've every been to.
